A penny for your laundry

Well, as the saying goes... "A Mother's Love is like Laundry; Always there and always over flowing."

Our laundry is mountains high. ALWAYS! Never is there a time when the laundry person of the month says, "Boy, am I bored! I think I will go read a book." NEVER!!! EVER!!!

There is always laundry to fold. Laundry to wash. Laundry to collect. Laundry to sort. Laundry to dry. Then ditto again.

My wonderful mother (who although a mite tired right now is very wise) came up with the "Dime a Drier Load" idea. VERY simple.

1 Enter the laundry room
2 Think to your self, "today I am going to help NOT hinder"
3 start a load of laundry
4 when you remove the previously washed load from the machine put it into the drier.
5 start the drier (this is a important step)
6 insert one dime into the coffee can on the drier

When we have filled up our can of dimes, we will be sending them to a Romanian Orphanage. Care to join us?

He Leadeth Me through the New Year!

He leadeth me! O blessed thought! O words with heav'nly comfort fraught! Whate'er I do, whate'er I be, still 'tis God's hand that leadeth me.

He leadeth me, He leadeth me, By His own hand He leadeth me;
His faithful foll'wer I would be, For by His hand He leadeth me.

Sometimes 'mid scenes of deepest gloom, Sometimes where Eden's bowers bloom, By waters still, o'er troubled sea, Still 'tis His hand that leadeth me!

He leadeth me, He leadeth me, By His own hand He leadeth me;
His faithful foll'wer I would be, For by His hand He leadeth me.

Lord, I would clasp Thy hand in mine, nor ever murmur nor repine; Content, whatever lot I see, Since 'tis my God that leadeth me!

He leadeth me, He leadeth me, By His own hand He leadeth me;
His faithful foll'wer I would be, For by His hand He leadeth me.

And when my task on earth is done, When by Thy grace the victr'ys won, E'en death's cold wave I will not flee, Since God thru Jordan leadeth me.

May the Lord lead you through 2010!

Happy New Year!!

P.S. This is a great song. We sing it at Bible Study and we play it on our violins, it is beautiful!

Preparing the garden...

As fall draws to a close and the days get colder and colder the garden dies back. Slow at first then faster, till nothing is left. Where your tall green plants where but a short time before there is merely soil. Dirt. Nothing. But beneath the crust of the cold soil, it is not quite as dead as you think. Of course the plants are dead, but the earthworms, the bugs, and the bacteria are alive and happy. They need food and warmth. The are decomposing your dead tomato plants and any other substance they find. To work with them to enrich your garden before spring follow some basic steps...

Table Places!

At the dining room table we all (all ten) sit! Now we all sit down to all three meals at the same time so we all have to have seating arrangements!

Mommy came up with this idea! She seated us all beside people that we could help i.e. older kids by young kids!!!
Anyway! Then every month everyone rotates one seat to the left! That way each of us gets several chances to sit beside Mommy and Daddy! It works really well!

COUNT OFF!!!

We go visit friends or go shopping at Sam's Club a lot so...

When we all get in the car and everyone is seated Mommy or Daddy say, "count off!". And we all count off! In birth order (oldest to youngest) we scream the number in which we were born!

I (Oldest Sister) being the oldest go first and yell, "one"! Then Second Sister with two, Third Sister with three, and so on!

It is the best way to insure that everyone is in the car safe and sound. This is great especially on nights when we have stayed late at someone's house and it is to dark to see!

Now you might ask, what about Baby Brother! He is only 16 months old! How does he know to scream eight at the right time? He doesn't. Third Sister or Older Brother who sit on either side of him in the car have to be touching him on the body and then they scream eight!
